Short courses for hikers who want to move into the mountains with more confidence — taught by the same guides who lead our routes.
A few habits that will make your trips safer, whatever the mountain or the season.
The weather in the Bulgarian mountains changes quickly. Check the weather conditions and the forecast several times before you set out for the mountain.
Share your route and expected return time with someone who is not joining the trip. Tell them the exact route you intend to take.
In the mountains the weather can change very quickly, even in summer. A jacket that protects against wind and rain is never superfluous and takes up little space in your backpack. A hat and gloves are also recommended.
Always set out with a fully charged phone, and carry a power bank too. A headlamp can also be very useful if you are delayed on the route and darkness falls, as can spare batteries for it.
Always carry enough water and light, energy-rich food with you.
The route you intend to take must be carefully chosen to match your physical and technical abilities, as well as those of the people you are with. The route must also suit the weather conditions in the mountains.
Never do anything at all costs. Mistakes in the mountains are usually expensive, and nobody should have to pay that price.
Remember that the mountain is not going anywhere. It will be there tomorrow, next week, in a month, and even in a year.
Do not pollute the mountain! Take your rubbish back with you, just as you brought it.
Do not disturb the wild animals – you are in their home, not they in yours!
Treat the mountain with respect, regard and humility. We must keep nature as it was before us, so that we preserve it for future generations.
We are professional mountain and ski guides, raised in the heart of the Rila mountains — at 1,600 metres above sea level. From an early age, the mountain has been our home, our school, and our way of life.
We were raised in the spirit of true mountaineering ethics and culture, passed down by the older generation of Bulgarian alpinists and hikers. From them we inherited not only a love of the mountains, but also invaluable knowledge, skills and experience, which we now apply and pass on to the people who trust us.
For us, safety always comes first. As guides, we carry responsibility for every group and every participant, so we approach our work professionally, carefully, and with respect for the mountain and its conditions.
We believe that a good mountain experience isn't only about reaching the summit, but also the knowledge, confidence and memories that stay with you afterwards. That's why we aim to share as much of our experience as possible — from mountain technique and safe movement to understanding and respecting nature.
We value a personal approach and individual attention for every participant. That's exactly why we organise small, well-structured groups, where everyone gets the attention, support, and room to progress at their own pace. A mountain guide's job isn't just to take you from point A to point B — it's to teach you as much as possible along the way.
When we organise larger groups, we work with additional guides who share the same values, professional standards, and love for the mountains.
Our mission is simple — to show you the beauty of the mountains in a safe, professional, and inspiring way, turning every adventure into an unforgettable experience.

Looking into the cirque above the twin lakes, plus scenes from a late-spring crossing — snow still holding in the couloirs while crocuses bloom lower down.
Shot on our July Vihren-to-Kamenitsa route and on the Gazey and Dzhangal crossing — sunrise on the ridge, the lake camp at dusk, the summit sign at 2822 m, and the golden cross on Gazey at 2761 m.
From the summer plateau above Sofia to a night under the Milky Way — the city glittering far below the ridge.
Forests, a hidden waterfall, and a slot canyon carved into the rock — from a late-summer walk through the Rhodope's quieter trails and villages.
Sunrise over the long ridge, a shaded forest pool, open summer meadows, and a shepherd's hut lost in the fog — a cross-section of the Balkan range's own quiet character.
