Avalanche safety

The mountain in winter offers incredible opportunities, but it demands knowledge, preparation, and the right decisions.

The Avalanche Safety Course – Level 1 is designed for people who want to move more confidently and responsibly in the winter mountains — on skis, splitboard, snowshoes, or on foot.

During the course you will get to know the core principles of avalanche safety and gain practical skills that can be decisive in a critical situation.

During the course you will learn:

Types of avalanches and how they form: The main types of avalanches, how they form, and which factors increase the likelihood of them occurring.

Avalanche danger and conditions: What the different avalanche danger levels mean and how to use the avalanche bulletin when planning your day in the mountains.

Recognizing and choosing terrain: How to recognize potentially dangerous terrain and how to choose a safer line for climbing, skiing down, or crossing on foot.

Correct behavior in avalanche terrain: How to organize the group, keep an appropriate distance, and cross risky sections in a way that reduces exposure to danger.

Working with a beacon, probe, and shovel: Practical exercises in the correct use of the basic personal avalanche equipment.

Search algorithm for a buried person: The sequence of actions in an avalanche incident — from the initial reaction and beacon search to pinpointing with the probe and effective digging.

Response in an avalanche incident: How to organize the rescue effort, react quickly, and give first aid to an injured person until professional rescue help arrives.

The course combines theory with practical exercises in the field, because in an avalanche incident it is not enough to know what to do — you need to have practiced it.

The goal of the course is to give you a foundation for better assessment of conditions and terrain, wiser decisions, and the right reaction in an emergency.

A better decision in avalanche terrain begins before we ever set off toward the mountain.

Price: 120 € per person — avalanche equipment is included in the price.

Not included: transport, overnight stay, drinks and personal consumables, and other expenses of a personal nature.
